Monkey business: 2 baby gorillas arrive at Bronx Zoo

NEW YORK

They're the first gorillas born at the Wildlife Conservation Society's Bronx Zoo since 2006.

Zoo officials said Thursday that the babies' genders are not yet known.

Mom Julia gave birth on March 10. Tuti had her baby on April 17.

Newborns weigh about 4 to 5 pounds. They could grow up to weigh 250 pounds, if they're girls, and 450 pounds, if they're boys.

Gorilla infants are held by their mother for the first four months of their life.

Zoo visitors can see the babies this spring if conditions are right. Factors include the weather, temperature and other environmental factors.
