NEW YORK (WABC) -- Police are searching for a man accused of robbing two New York City banks and trying to rob three others in the span of three and a half hours Monday.

Now, they're hoping a clear surveillance image will lead to a quick arrest.

The spree started at a Bank of America in Washington Heights around 1:30 p.m. He hit several other banks in Manhattan, including one on the Upper West Side where he got away with $50.

Authorities say the suspect ended his day at a Chase Bank in the Bronx, where he took off with nearly $400 in cash.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 30 years old, standing 5-foot-9 and weighing about 200 pounds.

The suspect was last seen wearing a red T-shirt, black shorts and white sneakers. He also had a thin beard and was wearing a Cincinnati Reds baseball cap and a gold chain around his neck.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
