COLLEGE POINT, Queens (WABC) -- A five-year-old was struck and killed by a car in Queens.
It happened just after 6 p.m. Saturday on 2019 124th Street in College Point right next to a playground
Police say the boy ran out between two parked cars when he was struck.
An eyewitness who wanted to remain anonymous says the only voice she heard was that of the driver.
"She started saying 'oh my god, oh my god, why did this happen to me? I didn't mean to do it - it was an accident,'" she said.
The driver stayed on the scene and there is no criminality suspected.
"This is crazy because the speed bumps need to be put all over the park," said neighbor Ada Herrara.
People who know the victim's family say what is even more shocking is that they would regularly spot the boy at the park without his parents.
The investigation is ongoing.
