BRONX, New York (WABC) -- A driver is in custody after attempting to flee from police during a traffic stop before crashing into an MTA bus in the Bronx.

Police say the crash happened just before 5 p.m. on East 204 Street and Valentine Avenue.

They say officers were trying to do a car stop at the location. That's when they say a grey SUV went around two cars and ran a red light.

The SUV then crashed into an accordion-style MTA BX2 bus at the location.

The driver refused medical attention but was later taken into custody.

Police say two passengers on the bus are being treated by EMS. Their conditions are unknown at this time.

Operations are ongoing.
