SOUNDVIEW, The Bronx (WABC) -- Six cars went up in flames in an apparent arson spree on a Bronx street early Tuesday morning.

It happened around 2 a.m. between Rosedale Avenue and East 174th Street in the Soundview section.

Police say an unidentified man with a gas can walked up and down the block, setting the cars on fire as well as the front porch of a residence.

Surveillance video from inside a nearby barbershop shows a man pouring, what appears to be, gasoline on a car. He then uses something to ignite the flames.

The FDNY responded and extinguished the flames.

A 2-month-old boy was treated for smoke inhalation at Jacobi Hospital.

Eyewitness News reporter Josh Einiger spoke to a man who owned one of the burnt-out vehicles.

"We looked through the window, we see the flames and the smoke, and we ran outside to see if anybody in the neighborhood - was okay, and we found that those cars were burning out," said car owner Amadou Bah.

Bah works as a livery cab driver and relies on his car to make a living.

"I lost the car. Because of that I wont be able to go to work," Bah said.

He's now left contemplating what he'll do next, and he's not the only one.

The carcass of a smart car was still sitting on the side of the street, along with several other burned out cars down the block.

"I feel helpless in this situation. I just hope authorities make a quick arrest," said car owner Luis Salcedo.

Salcedo owns the smart car. He's worried he won't get enough from his insurance company to replace it.

Investigators are now trying to determine who did this, and why.
