CROTONA PARK EAST, Bronx (WABC) -- Ronald Douglas came close to becoming the victim of a stray bullet Thursday morning as he was sitting his car.

"I see people running... And then I realized that the bullet hit my glass," he said.

The NYPD says those shots hit a 66-year-old Michael Martinez three times in the torso and grazed a 48-year-old woman's ankle.

The shooting happened around 9 a.m. on a sidewalk in front of an apartment building on Bryant Avenue.

Both victims were taken to St. Barnabas Hospital for treatment.

Larry Johnson was outside on the phone at the time of the shooting.

"I saw some lady come by me, and she was bleeding by her ankle. And at first, she didn't really realize what it was. But then I guess the pain, the shock eventually got to her," he said.

Authorities say this may have all started over an argument about a parking spot.

Martinez allegedly pulled a gun out to intimidate the suspect, but the suspect fired first.

Martinez is charged with criminal possession of a firearm.

The suspect ran off after the shooting, police said. He remained at large Thursday evening.
