COMMACK, Long Island (WABC) -- Police are searching for an Amazon delivery driver who struck the garage door of a home on Long Island while delivering a package, and then fled the scene.
Suffolk County Police say an Amazon driver was operating a gray Chevrolet SUV when she pulled into a driveway on Hayrick Lane in Commack on December 16 around 8:30 a.m.
They say the driver got out of the vehicle, leaving it in drive, to deliver the package. The vehicle then slowly rolled into the garage door.
After dropping the package, the Amazon driver is seen taking a picture before realizing she accidentally left the SUV in drive. She frantically tries to stop it, but it's too late.
The driver then jumps back inside the Chevrolet and pulls off.
There were no injuries involved in the crash, but some neighbors are concerned.
"That's crazy. It's just being irresponsible," said neighbor Ryan Rourke. "Throwing the amazon package and then going through the garage, pretty funny but sad."
"Scary. I have children who play on the lawn all the time, without even realizing it is scary," said neighbor Jessica Kay.
The owner of the damaged house has to figure out how much it will cost to repair.
An Amazon spokesperson released a statement, saying, "We are looking into this and cooperating with police."
Suffolk County Crime Stoppers has released an image of the driver and are offering a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest.
