BEDFORD-STUYVESANT, Brooklyn (WABC) -- Police are searching for the suspect who shot and killed a man trying to retrieve his phone from a store in Brooklyn.
The fatal shooting happened around 2:40 a.m. on Saturday on Rockaway Avenue.
Authorities say Steven Battle, 45, was trying to get his phone from a coffee shop when he was fatally shot outside and collapsed in the middle of the street. The business was open at the time of the shooting because it doubles as a nightclub, officials say.
First responders transported the victim to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
According to the NYPD, the suspect managed to flee the scene in a black Cadillac SUV.
The suspect is described as a man with a dark complexion, slim build, braids and facial hair. He was last seen wearing a dark blue hooded sweatshirt, light-colored grey jeans and black and white sneakers.

Police identified him as Steven Battle, 45.
