Woman accused in West Village attempted robbery of 90-year-old

WEST VILLAGE, New York (WABC) -- Police have arrested a woman in connection with the attempted mugging of a 90-year-old in the West Village.

Lillian Maduro, 49, of the Bronx, has been charged with robbery and assault.

Around noon Sept. 27, near Fifth Avenue and West 12th Street, a woman approached the victim behind and tried to take her duffle bag from a cart, police said.

The victim fought back, according to the New York City Police Department, but the suspect knocked her down and kept pulling at the bag. She was unable to get it away from the victim.

The suspect fled and the victim was treated for cuts at Mount Sinai Beth Israel.
