13 alligators stolen from Arkansas gator farm

HOT SPRINGS, AR -- Police in Hot Springs, Arkansas, are on the hunt for two people who broke into an alligator farm recently and stole more than a dozen gators.

The manager says the thieves broke down the doors to one of the exhibits, grabbed several alligators and stuffed them into bags. Thirteen in all were stolen.

The manager is concerned the thieves will get scared and throw the gators out somewhere.

Arkansas Alligator Farm and Petting Zoo manager Jamie Bridges told reporters that surveillance video shows to people wearing masks breaking into the farm after 2 a.m. Saturday and stuffing the alligators into bags before jumping over a fence to leave.

Bridges says 12 of the alligators are less than a year old and about 12 inches long while the other is about 7 years old and three feet long.

The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission says it's illegal to possess alligators in Arkansas without a permit.
