Winter storm brings more rain, flooding, and then a freeze in NYC, Tri-State

After another round of heavy rain, a blast of Arctic air will follow in NYC, Tri-State

NEW YORK (WABC) -- No rest for the weary as another winter storm brings another round of potential flooding to the Tri-State area.

Latest AccuWeather Forecast

The low-pressure system will drench the region with more heavy rainfall and gusty winds into early Saturday morning.

Rainfall totals and winds won't be as high as Tuesday's storm, but the impact will still be significant given our weakened state.

Flood watches and warnings were issued for parts of New York and New Jersey. Click here for the latest severe weather alerts from the National Weather Service.

TIMING: Rain continues into early Saturday AM, brunt 12am - 4am

AMOUNTS: Widespread .75"-1.5" of rain. Locally 2"+.

WIND: 40-50 mph gusts

IMPACT: Urban, major river (Passaic) and moderate to isolated major coastal flooding. Downed trees may cause power outages.

While rivers rise again, the forecast calls for mainly minor flooding for smaller rivers. Smaller Hudson Valley rivers can produce moderate flooding.

Behind the storm, an Arctic blast will move across the country, dropping our temperatures and creating blustery conditions.

Buffalo and western New York could face dangerous blizzard-like conditions this weekend as bitterly cold air is expected to clash with intense lake-effect snow that could amount to 1-3 feet.

While no snow is forecast here this weekend, the deep penetrating cold blast will likely help to set up a storm track that favors snow early next week in the Tri-State area.

A coastal low is expected to develop along the southeastern coast late Monday and track northeast.

With cold air remaining in place, snow looks possible across much of the region but a lot is still uncertain about the track.
