Immigrant murdered in Yonkers

NEW YORK Today residents of a neighborhood in Yonkers paid their respects to that young man they recalled seeing, but never really knew. The 22-year old Honduran immigrant was shot and killed last night while he sat on the stoop in front of the building where he rented an apartment.

Margarita Watson called 911 while her boyfriend tried to help the victim. Despite being mortally wounded from two gunshots to the chest, the victim managed to give a description of his assailants and tell what happened.

The murder is the second in less than a week in Yonkers. On Sunday a livery cab driver was shot and killed. There have been five homicides in the city this year and overall, shootings are a major concern. This week alone two men were shot during attempted robberies. Police don't believe those incidents and last night's shooting are related. .
