1 dead, 2 injured in New Haven shootings

NEW HAVEN The first shooting was reported shortly after 8 p.m. Tuesday on Clay Street. Officers say they found 33-year-old Billy Ray Chapman shot several times. Police say he remains hospitalized in critical condition.

Police say another shooting at about 9:45 p.m. at Rosette and Hurlburt streets killed 43-year-old Jeffrey Jones and wounded 48-year-old David Taylor, who is hospitalized in stable condition.

The killing is New Haven's fifth homicide of the year.

No arrests have been made and motives haven't been released.

Police are asking anyone with information about the shootings to contact them.
