New York City Council holding bed bugs hearing Wed.

NEW YORK

The committee will be investigating the Department of Consumer Affairs and what it is doing to protect New Yorkers from the blood sucking creatures.

The panel wants to know exactly what the department is doing to prevent infestations in second-hand stores, laundromats and dry cleaners.

City officials say more than 33,000 311 bed bug calls were made last year.
