Fire breaks out inside Montefiore Hospital

NEW YORK The fire was located in a generator room in the basement, which created heavy smoke conditions inside the hospital just before 2:00 p.m.

Officials partially evacuated the hospital, including the emergency room. Patients were moved to other areas.

No injuries were reported.

Firefighters quickly contained the flames, and by 2:20 p.m. the smoke had largely dissipated.

People were allowed to return to the hospital shortly before 3:00 p.m.
