Woman accused of stealing 'Lord of the Rings' memorabilia

MILLERTON, N.Y.

Police say 49-year old Brenda McKay stole property from the motion picture series "The Hobbit, an Unexpected Journey" and "The Lord of the Rings."

McKay, from Millerton, New York, was arrested on Thursday.

Police say the property included two of the original swords from the movies, the value of which is estimated at $150,000.00 for each sword.

Other items being authenticated increase the net value of the stolen property to at least $500,000.

McKay is charged with Burglary 3rd Degree.

She was arraigned in Dover town court, and is being held in the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.
