20th Parkinson's Unity Walk April 26th in New York City's Central Park

NEW YORK The Parkinson Alliance sponsors the event, uniting thousands of supporters from across the country all in search of advances leading to a cure.

"Working together raises more funds. This benefits research by enabling scientists to perform studies that are making progress in understanding more about Parkinson's disease. The Parkinson's Unity Walk funds the development of therapies and treatments that are enhancing the quality of life of people living with Parkinson's, until we find a cure," states Carol Walton, CEO of The Parkinson Alliance.

In addition to the Walk's primary goal to raise funds for research, it is also a day of community and education. Participants will have the opportunity to visit informational booths of companies and organizations who are working for the Parkinson's community. Resources available at the Walk will include information about available therapies, participating in clinical trials, and advocacy. At the Ask the Healthcare Experts booth, participants will have access to healthcare professionals who can offer general information on disease management, including a movement disorder specialist, neurosurgeon, and physical therapist.

Sponsors allow for one hundred percent of donations to go to research funded by seven major U.S. Parkinson's disease foundations. Sponsors include AbbVie, Teva CNS, UCB, US WorldMeds, Boston Scientific INTREPID Study, Chelsea Therapeutics, LSVT Global, Medtronic, and MRI Interventions.
