Several hurt in attempted Queens carjacking

QUEENS

The attempted carjacking happened at 226th Street and 115th Avenue in Cambria Heights, Queens.

Authorities say the suspect got into the backseat somehow and threatened the woman with a knife.

She hit the gas, but the suspect started stabbing her. The driver lost control of the car, and the vehicle rolled.

Good Samaritans ran over to help, but witnesses say the suspect crawled out of the car and began to threaten residents with the knife.

Two of the Good Samaritans managed to subdue him and hold him down until police got there.

Police arrived on the scene and took the suspect into custody.

The driver was taken to Jamaica Hospital in critical condition.

Three others were taken to the hospital with less serious injures.

Charges are pending against the knife wielding suspect, police said.
