FBI, NYPD seek serial bank robber dubbed the 'Americas Bandit'

NEW YORK (WABC) -- The New York FBI/NYPD Joint Violent Crimes Task Force is offering a reward for anyone with information about the serial bank robber dubbed the "Americas Bandit" who investigators believe is responsible for six incidents in Manhattan dating back to September of 2015.

Anyone with information could receive a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest.

Investigators say the suspect has robbed six banks in total, using a note to demand money in the three robberies in 2015 and displaying a gun in the three robberies this year. They include:

--Bank of America, 670 Avenue of the Americas, June 27, 2016

--Citibank, 395 Avenue of the Americas, Dec. 21, 2015

--Chase Bank, 340 Avenue of the Americas, Sept. 25, 2015

--Chase Bank, 340 Avenue of the Americas, Sept. 23, 2015

The nickname comes from the fact that three of the robberies occurred on The Avenue of the Americas.

Witnesses have also said a woman has been with him in both the robberies in July. She has been seen in video actively assisting him with the robbery, and investigators believe she may have ties to the Yonkers area.

The suspect is described as a black male in his mid-50s, about 5-foot-7, 185 pounds and bald. In some of the robberies, he is wearing glasses and some type of hat. He is believed to be armed and dangerous.
