New York City named best bike city in America

NEW YORK (WABC) -- New York City has been named best city in the nation for cycling by Bicycling magazine for the first time ever.

In its October edition, the magazine praised the city for creating 350 miles of bike lanes in the past dozen years, and for signing up 96,000 annual members for the CitiBike program.

The city is also about to add another 58 bike-lane miles, and it's expanding the CitiBike program into Brownsville, Long Island City and Washington Heights.

The 2014 top ten cities for cycling, as ranked by Bicycling Magazine are:
