Body found inside basement of abandoned home in Brighton Beach

Officials say the body is believed to have been there for some time, and the home was abandoned.

BRIGHTON BEACH, Brooklyn (WABC) -- There was a gruesome discovery at an abandoned home in Brighton Beach, Brooklyn.

Police say a squatter found a rotting body in the basement of the home on Brighton 6th Street Sunday afternoon.

The body may have been there for more than six months.

Police also found drug paraphernalia near the body.

The medical examiner will determine how he died.
