Bronx fire kills elderly man

BRONX, N.Y. (WABC) -- A fire killed a man Thursday night at an apartment building in the New Hope section.

The fire started around 8 p.m. at a building in the 1700 block of Weeks Avenue.

The elderly man was found badly burned in his living room and unconscious. He was taken to Bronx Lebanon Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A next door neighbor suffered smoke inhalation.

The fire was put out in 60 minutes.

The cause of the fire is also under investigation.
