Overturned tractor-trailer causes traffic nightmare on New England Thruway

BRONX (WABC) -- An overturned tractor-trailer created a traffic nightmare on the New England Thruway in the Bronx early Wednesday morning.

The accident happened around 6:30 a.m. in the southbound lanes at exit 9, near the ramp to the Hutchinson River Parkway.

Two tractor-trailers collided, with one being quickly cleared from the scene.

The other, however, flipped over on its side and remained on the roadway for several hours.

The accident caused a bumper-to-bumper backup for miles, which extended into the morning rush hour.
