BURBANK, California -- A sculpture erected in front of the Ikea in Burbank, California is raising attention for its suggestive shape.
From one angle the sculpture might resemble a bowling pin bent at the top, flower vase or perhaps a squash.
From another view, well, some are suggesting it has a more anatomical appearance.
People passing by the store had a variety of takes.
"I'm envious, I have to say," laughed Orlando Suess of Burbank.
Others were simply mystified.
"I don't understand why," said Keyn Miao of Burbank. "Like, what is the purpose of it? And basically I don't know what is it."
Ikea says it commissioned the artwork, but declined to discuss it in detail. The company said the store and the city of Burbank are planning an official unveiling of the artwork in the next week or so.
The Burbank Ikea opened earlier this year and at 456,000 square feet is the largest location in the United States for the Swedish furniture chain.
