Mother pleads for help after son's brutal murder in Brooklyn

NEW YORK (WABC) -- A heartbroken mother is pleading for answers in the mysterious murder of her son.

He had the brightest of futures and had led, police say, a perfectly normal, law abiding life.

"The minute that he was born, he changed my life. He changed my life and he made me a better person. He made me a better person and I just miss him so much, I miss him so much," said Allison Shinn, the victim's mother.

Police say her 23-year-old son Amani Miller, was somehow lured into a public hallway at the Bayview Houses in Canarsie on March 21st.

A place where cops say he had no business, but where he was plainly tortured. He was stabbed so many times, and stabbed so hard, police found the knife's blade embedded in his ribs.

And then he was shot multiple times, including one time in the head.

This was a barbaric crime and a loud crime. But at 2:30 in the afternoon on a Monday, police have found not one willing witness.

There are no cameras in the NYCHA project; the closest one captured an image of a livery cab detectives believed carried at least two suspects away, but you can't make out the license plate.

Tuesday night, his heartbroken mother is desperate for anyone to come forward with anything that can help solve this case.

"The last words that we spoke were that we loved each other, and that was the last time that I spoke to him. That was the last time that I talked to him, we told each other and that's all I have now. That's all I have left. I just have the memories and I just want somebody to just please help me and just come forward and just say something," Shinn said.

Miller has no criminal past, no known contacts in Canarsie, and lived miles away in Bedford-Stuyvesant.
