2 children missing in New Jersey found safe

BARNEGAT, N.J. (WABC) -- Officials have found two 2 children reported missing from their respective homes.

The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office has reported that the 13- and a 12-year-old, a boy and a girl, have been located.

Both were found unharmed at approximately 9:45 Thursday morning on a dirt path off Bilge Road in Barnegat.

New Jersey State Police confirms that it was searching Thursday morning for the two who it said ran away from home. The state police is assisting the Barnegat Police Department.

The family of the girl notified police at 12:45 a.m. Thursday that their daughter was missing. Police were notified about the boy afterwards.

Officials are searching the area of Ravenwood Boulevard and the Parkway Trail in Barnegat where they said the children may have entered the woods.

The missing were identified as Caroline "Carly" Hartman, 12, and Anthony Martinez, 13.
