Coast Guard chases boat thieves for hundreds of miles from Florida to Mexico

FT. MYERS, Florida (WABC) -- Boat thieves in Florida took the Coast Guard on a chase for hundreds of miles. The ordeal began Christmas morning near Ft. Myers Florida, and ended across the gulf near Mexico.

It all started as investigators were looking into a possible organized boat theft ring. When they tried to go after suspects in a high-speed vessel, they took off.

The Coast Guard kept a close eye in the air, and on the water until they were able to arrest three suspects.

No one was hurt.
