Girl taken to Germany with mom against custody order, police say

BROOKLYN, N.Y. (WABC) -- Police are looking for a New York City woman who they said illegally took her daughter to Germany.

On March 21, the father of 7-year-old Kaia Berger dropped her off at her mother's home on Butler Street in Brooklyn.

The mother, Ulrike Berger, 44, agreed to return the child to her father, but she is believed to have taken the child to Germany in violation of a court order, according to the New York City Police Department.

Under the order, the woman is prohibited from leaving the United States with the girl.
