HUNTINGTON (WABC) -- A Long Island man is facing charges after authorities say he bit a police officer at a town hall meeting in Suffolk County Tuesday night.
Police say 66-year-old Daniel Karpen was arrested after getting into a scuffle with a public safety officer just after 6:30 p.m. in Huntington.
The official apparently tried to search Karpen's backpack before the meeting, but Karpen refused and tried to run away.
Police officer present at the meeting then tried to handcuff Karpen, and that's when police say he chomped down on a female officer's arm.
The officer was transported to Huntington Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Karpen is charged with disorderly conduct, criminal trespass, resisting arrest and assault.
