3 arrested in shooting at Elizabeth train station
Dray Clark has the latest details on the victim who was injured in the alleged robbery.

ELIZABETH, N.J. (WABC) -- Police have charged three people in connection with a shooting that left a man injured at a New Jersey Transit train station in Elizabeth on Aug. 1.



Kevin Smith, 18, of Middlesex Borough, Kyeaira Simpkins, 19, of Elizabeth, and Luquan Dotson, 20, of Elizabeth, each is charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree robbery, and related weapons offenses.



Around 5 a.m., a man was robbed and shot in the upper leg on the northbound platform at the Elizabeth train station on West Grand Street. About an hour later there was another robbery at Cherry Street and West Grand where a victim's cell and cash were taken.



Three suspects, a woman and two men, were arrested about 20 minutes later at East Broad and Broad. No gun was recovered.



The victim in the first incident was taken to University Hospital in Newark for treatment. His injury did not appear life threatening.
