HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (WABC) -- Police on Long Island are investigating the fatal shooting of a driver, who then crashed through a schoolyard fence, injuring three children.
It happened Tuesday in Hempstead.
Police say 45-year-old Jonathan Wade called 911 after seeing some sort of disturbance on Albermale Road.
When he circled around the block, someone fired, striking him.
He drove off, crashing through a fence at Hempstead Middle School, and then hitting bleachers.
Three children suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Wade died at a local hospital.
