Rockland County prescription drug, heroin ring busted
Marcus Solis reports on an operation that police say moved more than $1 million in drugs into Rockland County.

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (WABC) -- Police say a prescription drug and heroin operation that moved more than $1 million in drugs into Rockland County has been dismantled.

Around 40 people were arrested Wednesday morning during Operation True Blue and appeared in federal court in White Plains to answer to the charges.

The District Attorney's Office says the group's main drug dealing location was Palisades Center Mall, and that mini marts, motels and a motor home were also used.

The heroin came from the Bronx and was sold in Rockland County.

Prosecutors say the ring filled prescriptions electronically at pharmacies across the state, then sold tablets of oxycontin for $20 to $30 each.

Twenty-nine people face federal or state charges, while another 17 were named in a federal indictment. New York state has charged 12 people in a related prosecution.

The activities reportedly took place from early 2014 to this month.
