Crews in Jersey City repairing second water main break in three days

JERSEY CITY, New Jersey (WABC) -- Crews are on the scene of a water main break in Jersey City, the city's second in the past three days.

Suez Water reported a break to an 8 inch main on Neptune Ave between Kennedy Boulevard and Romar Avenue, affecting 48 homes.

It happened about a mile from Friday's broken water main that left several streets flooded.

The 12-inch main broke in the area of Culver and West Side avenues. Some roadways in that area remained closed as the work continued into Saturday morning, but no major travel problems were reported.

Officials say crews had the flooding under control, and a shuttered stretch of West Side Avenue will likely be reopened late Sunday afternoon once paving is completed.

The cause of the break remains under investigation.

Officials have said that only three businesses were still being affected by the break on Saturday. But some residents in the area said they also didn't have access to water.
