NEW YORK -- A New York City schools administrator has been arrested on sex charges involving a 14-year-old boy.

Police say 53-year-old John DiFiore was arrested Tuesday on charges of sexual contact with a child under 17 and act in a manner injurious to a child. Information on his lawyer wasn't immediately available.

DiFiore is a deputy superintendent assigned to the Board of Education headquarters.

The city's Department of Education released a statement saying that although the alleged behavior was not school-related they called the allegations "disturbing and reprehensible." They said DiFiore has been reassigned to a position where he will have no contact with students.
