Man accused of threatening shoppers with machete while naked due in court

LAKE GROVE, N.Y. (WABC) -- A man accused of threatening shoppers with a machete while naked at a Long Island Costco is facing arraignment Tuesday.

The incident happened Monday afternoon in a Costco parking lot in Lake Grove.

Suffolk County police say 37-year-old Jose Amaya was waving the machete at bystanders.

He then barricaded himself in the cab of a tractor-trailer he drove, and lived in.

Police say he threatened officers with the machete.

So, they used a Taser to subdue him.
