Storms bring heavy downpours, flooding across the Tri-State | Live Updates

NEW YORK (WABC) -- Severe thunderstorms swept through New York City and the Tri-State area, triggering heavy downpours and flash flooding on Friday evening.
The National Weather Service issued numerous severe thunderstorm and flash flood warnings for the area, and Thunderstorm Watch that was in effect on Friday has since expired.

While storms move out Friday night, the heat will will remain intense on Saturday, with a heat advisory continuing through the day. Afternoon temperatures will climb to near 90 degrees, but high humidity levels will push heat index values into the mid-90s to around 100 degrees.
The most extreme heat index readings are expected across interior New Jersey and portions of Monmouth and Ocean counties.

NJ Transit rail service disrupted due amid strong storms
New Jersey Transit rail service on several lines have been disrupted amid strong storms Friday night.
Raritan Valley Line rail service is suspended in both directions due to a downed tree across the tracks near Plainfield Station.
Morris and Essex and Gladstone Branch rail service is suspended in both directions between Summit and Newark Broad Street stations and Montclair Boonton line rail service is suspended in both directions between Hoboken and Hackettstown stations due to signal issues near Newark Broad Street.
Gladstone Branch rail service is subject to up to 30-minute delays in both directions due to signal issues near Murray Hill.
NJ Transit Pascack Valley Line rail service is suspended in both directions between Pearl River and Spring Valley due to weather-related flooding conditions near Nanuet Station.

Storm-related issues reported in Dunellen, NJ
Dunellen Mayor Jason Cilento said that the town is experiencing several storm-related issues.
They include the following:
- A transformer issue in the 500 block of Mountain View Terrace
- A tree down in the area of Second Street and Schwartz
- A tree down in the 500 block of Dunellen Avenue
- A tree down in the 300 block of Sanford Avenue
- Wires down in the 500 block of Front Street
