NEW YORK (WABC) -- The Fourth of July marks a major milestone for America as we mark 250 years.
From spectacular fireworks to special exhibits and patriotic parades, we have everything you need to know to mark the momentous occasion.
ABC is marking America's 250th anniversary with 24 hours of unparalleled programming called "Disney Celebrates America."
The multi-platform broadcast, led by ABC News "World News Tonight" anchor David Muir, features coverage across all 50 states, continues all day on the Fourth of July.
Parade of tall ships delights spectators along Hudson River
Hundreds of people gathered at Pier 84 along the Hudson River on Saturday to watch tall ships sail past and fighter jets streak across the sky as part of a celebration marking the nation's 250th birthday.
Spectators from across the country lined the waterfront, taking in the ship parade and aerial demonstrations while photographing dozens of vessels from other countries participating in the celebration of America's founding.
Marcus Solis reports from the banks of the Hudson:
Spectators found a shady spot along the route, which started at Hudson Avenue and Preston Street before heading west to Roosevelt Avenue, north toward Union Place and then west to Main Street.
That's where we found the bulk of patriots, both young and old, locked into one of the oldest Fourth of July parades in New Jersey.
And of course this year is extra special as America celebrates its 250th birthday.
Crystal Cranmore reports from Ridgefield Park, New Jersey
Chestnut captured the men's title for the 18th time, downing 66 dogs.
Joey Chestnut and other competitive eaters consume hot dogs during the 2026 Nathan's Famous Fourth of July hot dog eating contest at Coney Island.
Competitors consume as many hot dogs and buns as possible in 10 minutes, usually dunking the wieners in water first to make them easier to swallow.
