NEW YORK (WABC) -- The Fourth of July marks a major milestone for America as we mark 250 years and New York City and the Tri-State will celebrate all week.
From spectacular fireworks to special exhibits and patriotic parades, we have everything you need to know to mark the momentous occasion.
And Disney is Celebrating America like never before, starting Friday night at 8 and then at 10, David Muir reports live from the Statue of Liberty. After Eyewitness News at 11-- the final countdown is on with "Party Across America," from Bourbon Street to the Vegas Strip to Times Square with Sam Champion as the ball drops to ring in July 4th.
Coverage continues all night and as day breaks on Saturday-- David Muir traces our nation's amazing history. After a special GMA, Hometowns and Heroes goes cross-country on America's westward expansion. Then ESPN covers Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating contest and ABC News and National Geographic present the Seven Natural Wonders of America.
At 5, ESPN's SportsCenter celebrates sports stories that shaped America and after a special edition of World News Tonight-- join Ryan Seacrest for "Nashville's Star Spangled Bash." Music's biggest stars will perform live and one of the largest fireworks celebrations in the nation. Again-- it all starts Friday night on Channel 7.
America's 250th birthday is upon us, and there's no better way to celebrate than going to see fireworks this Independence Day with family and friends.

Macy's is set to celebrate America's 250th birthday with a spectacular July Fourth fireworks show in New York City.
The 50th edition of the nation's largest Independence Day celebration will light up New York City with 85,000 shells in 30 colors from six barges, plus a new laser show from the Brooklyn Bridge.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced 100,000 free tickets for New Yorkers to watch the fireworks from prime viewing areas at Brooklyn Bridge Park in Brooklyn and the Seaport in Manhattan.

Subway and the Staten Island Railway
On Friday, July 3, the New York City subway and the Staten Island Railway will operate on a Saturday schedule.
On Saturday, July 4, there will be increased service on the a/c/f/2/3/4 and 6 lines in the late afternoon and early evening to accommodate riders attending the Macy's Fourth of July fireworks display. The extended service will run through the late evening.
2/3 trains will not stop at Clark Street on July 4 from 8:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. Bypass times are subject to change due to crowd conditions at the station.
There are planned subway service changes on the a, Rockaway Park Shuttle s/d/n/r/1/2/3/4/5/6 and 7 lines the weekend of July 3-5 so crews can perform signal upgrades and scheduled maintenance work.
Buses
On Friday, July 3, New York City buses will run on a Saturday schedule.
Customers should expect delays on all routes near Lower Manhattan and the Brooklyn waterfront on the evening of Saturday, July 4 due to the Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks Show.
Long Island Rail Road (LIRR)
On Thursday, July 2, the LIRR will operate on a Friday schedule.
On Friday, July 3, the LIRR will operate on a normal Friday summer schedule. Summer Friday service to Montauk and Greenport will run on both Thursday and Friday.
On Saturday, July 4 and Sunday, July 5, the LIRR will operate on a regular weekend summer schedule.
Metro-North Railroad
Metro-North will operate on a Friday schedule on Thursday, July 2, with adjusted peak period service and getaway trains on all three lines during the afternoon.
On the Port Jervis Line, the 2:41 p.m. train from Hoboken to Middletown, with a connecting 2:34 p.m. train from Penn Station, will be extended to Port Jervis, including a stop at Otisville. The 6:14 p.m. train from Hoboken to Port Jervis, with a 6:01 p.m. connecting train from New York Penn Station, will not operate on Thursday, July 2.
On Friday, July 3, Metro-North East of Hudson trains will operate on a Sunday schedule.
On Saturday, July 4, Metro-North East of Hudson trains will operate on a Saturday schedule with two extra trains on the New Haven Line to accommodate riders after the Rye Playland and Macy's fireworks.
For West of Hudson service, on July 3 and July 5 there will be one additional train on the Port Jervis line, which departs Port Jervis at 4:05 p.m. and arrives in Hoboken at 6:33 p.m. The Pascack Valley line will operate on a normal weekend schedule.
The City of Hoboken has issued a Gridlock Alert and Limited Access Travel Plan for Saturday, July 4.
The Office of Emergency Management and Hoboken Police Department have implemented the restrictions to support emergency response throughout the city by mitigating severe and potentially dangerous traffic congestion, which was experienced during and following previous Independence Day celebrations.
During the Limited Access Travel Plan, unauthorized vehicles will not bepermittedto enter Hoboken.
Police officers will be stationed at all entrances to the city to enforce the restrictions and assist with traffic flow.
Authorized vehicles include residents, individuals with proof of pre-paid reserved parking, business owners and people traveling to work within the city, emergency personnel, and transit vehicles.
