For this week's special edition of Up Close with Bill Ritter, Eyewitness News sat down with Republican candidate for mayor, Curtis Sliwa.

Both candidates in the race for New Jersey governor had something to say about their opponent over the weekend.
Mikie Sherrill said Jack Ciattarelli has to stay out of the limelight because he's scared of President Donald Trump.
Ciattarelli, meanwhile, wrote on social media, "the energy is on our side and even democrats admit it. When they're sounding the alarm in New Jersey, you know momentum is with us."
Curtis Sliwa had a security escort at his news conference on Monday morning.
Sliwa said it's because there were "credible threats" against him and his wife over the weekend.
He is asking everyone to tone down the rhetoric.
Zohran Mamdani is taking shots at Mayor Eric Adams and making light of his trip to Albania, saying he wouldn't have to travel abroad because he met "plenty" of Albanians this weekend on Staten Island.
Mamdani pressed flesh in Queens on Monday morning and talked about how he would implement free buses and other initiatives.
