Fireworks and insults fly during first NYC mayoral debate

There were fireworks at Thursday night's New York City mayoral debate.

The three men hoping to call Gracie Mansion home, Zohran Mamdani, Andrew Cuomo, and Curtis Sliwa, all took turns attacking each other.

But at some points, the debate seemed much more like a two-horse competition.

There is two and a half weeks until Election Day, so there's still time to make an impression on voters, but time is running out.

Adams encourages New Yorkers to watch debate, will endorse 'when ready'

Mayor Eric Adams said he will make an endorsement in the race for New York City mayor when he is ready.

"When I'm ready to endorse, that's the best answer that I can give," Adams said. "And everyone that is giving their predictions, you must be inside my head, because I don't know what I'm going to do here."

He said that everyone should watch the debates.

"I'm hoping that New Yorkers are focused on the candidates to make sure the right questions are asked, so that we can see what the city is going to look like in the future," Adams said.

Adams said he has the Al Smith dinner, a Diwali event at City Hall and other stuff to do on Thursday so he will watch it on tape later.

When he leaves office, Adams said he is going to travel, going back to school to get his doctorate, write a book and make a documentary about his life.

Adams said he is willing to help others in other countries, but he is "going to remain local here, in local politics and local solutions."
