SURFSIDE, Florida -- In times of crisis and when disaster strikes, World Central Kitchen mobilizes the power of food to assist those in need.

Following the tragic building collapse in Surfside, Florida, WCK immediately got food trucks on-site so that search-and-rescue teams and anyone evacuated had hot, fresh food available.

"We have been here since Thursday. We activate with a sense of urgency all over the world in times of crisis and beyond. We've activated to feed all emergency responders, as well as those who are displaced," said Monica Majors, Lead of the Florida Ground Team for World Central Kitchen.

The organization, founded by Chef José Andrés in 2010, has responded to disasters across the globe, partnering with local restaurants to bring fresh meals to disaster zones.

"We're here for a reason. And the reason is to bring a certain amount of calmness and peace," said Herbert Coleman, owner of Seed, a WCK partner serving sustainable eats on wheels.

From Cuban-style steak sandwiches to pork chops, ribs, chicken, or snapper, these meals are warming the hearts and energizing the rescue teams working around the clock.

WCK and their local partners are committed to supporting these teams for as long as needed with food trucks available from 11 am to 11:30 pm daily.

"Floridians have come together as a family. My heart is full knowing that the plates keep their bellies full. These hot meals go a very long way for them coming off the rubble and not have to worry about a hot meal, how they're going to be nourished," said Majors.
