Long Island man rescued after kayak overturns in lake

LAKE RONKONKOMA, Long Island (WABC) -- A Long Island man is safe on dry land after his kayak overturned in a lake.

The incident happened Saturday morning on Lake Ronkonkoma in Suffolk County.

Police say Eric Jerome, 56, was about 300 yards off shore, and could not get his foot free from the kayak.

Three officers and a lifeguard swam out and brought him back to safety.
