Suspect arrested in attempted rape of 74-year-old woman in the Bronx

MELROSE, Bronx (WABC) -- Police have arrested a man suspected of trying to rape a 74-year-old woman in the Bronx.

24-year-old Joshue McCallum is charged with attempted rape, burglary and sexual assault.

Police say McCallum followed the woman to her apartment building and into an elevator, then put her in a chokehold and groped her.

The woman banged on a neighbor's door and scared him off.

McCallum lives a block away from the scene of the attack.
