NEW YORK (WABC) -- They got their start in "Despicable Me" but now the minions have a movie all their own.
But, are those much-loved characters worth the price of admission?
Mindless? Maybe, but "Minions" make me laugh. So I was delighted when the supporting characters from "Despicable Me" got their own movie.
Most of the action takes place in 1968, decades before the minions meet "Gru", who was played in the earlier movies by Steve Carell.
We learn the little guys have played an important part throughout history.
Without a master the minions lack energy but soon enough "Kevin", "Stewart", and little "Bob" are on their way to find one at "Villain-Con".
They're hoping to find a new despicable master.
"The super-villain we've all been waiting for 'Scarlett Overkill,'" the movie introduced.
That voice belongs to Sandra Bullock, who is not so nice this time.
Jon Hamm breathes life into: her henchman-husband.
Together they plot to steal the crown from Britain's Queen Elizabeth.
"Bob" even becomes king briefly as part of action that is "inspired" if you're like me and can tap your inner child, and mundane if you can't.
