Motorcyclist killed attempting 'wheelie' at Roosevelt Field Mall

GARDEN CITY (WABC) -- Nassau County police are investigating a fatal motorcycle accident in Garden City Saturday night.

According to detectives, a 31-year old man from Saint Albans was driving his 2014 Suzuki motorcycle on the second level of the elevated parking area at the Roosevelt Field Mall.

He was observed attempting a "wheelie", lost control of the motorcycle and accidentally struck the retaining wall.

He was then ejected from the motorcycle and fell to the ground (approximately 20 feet) suffering multiple trauma injuries, police say.

After being transported to an area hospital he was pronounced dead. His identity has not yet been released.

The motorcycle was impounded for brake and safety checks. The investigation into this accident continues.
