Watch this yearlong time-lapse of earth
The stunning time-lapse shows our planet during its journey across the sun.

Here's a timelapse video that's out of this world.

NASA released a stunning yearlong timelapse of Earth, built from over 3,000 images captured with EPIC, a camera located approximately 1 million miles from Earth. EPIC is on NOAA's DSCOVR satellite, balanced between "the gravity of our home planet and the sun," according to NASA.

The breathtaking timelapse shows a beautiful, lesser-seen view of our planet. Scientists will study the images to help them to better understand Earth.

"The hourly images from the entire sunless side of the earth, provided by EPIC will be used to study the daily variations of features over the entire globe, helping us to better understand and protect our home planet," said EPIC Lead Scientist Jay Herman.
