Newark water main break buckles road, creates sinkhole

NEWARK (WABC) -- A section of a street in Newark is shut down Friday after a water main break created a huge sinkhole.

The break happened just before 2 a.m. at the intersection of Park Place and Center Street, right outside the New Jersey Performing Arts Center.

The road around the water main buckled, leaving the giant hole in the middle of the road.

Park Place is closed while crews work to repair the road.
