Off-duty corrections officer body found in Greenwich Village
The 33-year-old man was discovered unconscious and unresponsive Wednesday morning.

GREENWICH VILLAGE, Manhattan (WABC) -- An off-duty correction officer was found dead on the street outside of an apartment building in Greenwich Village.

Police say the 33-year-old man was discovered unconscious and unresponsive on Christopher Street at around 2:15 a.m. Wednesday.

The Medical Examiner says the victim had bruises on his head, but a cause of death has not yet been determined.

Investigators are looking into whether the man hit his head in a fall while leaving a neighborhood bar.
