A deliveryman from a local supermarket fell down an elevator shaft with his shopping cart in this six-story Bronx building.

HIGHBRIDGE, BRONX (WABC) -- A man has been rescued after falling down an elevator shaft in the High Bridge section of the Bronx just before 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

The man, a deliveryman from a local supermarket, reportedly fell down the shaft with his shopping cart from the second floor of a six-story building.

He suffered bleeding from his head and lacerations to one of his legs.

EMS transported the man to Lincoln Hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Emergency units are apparently still at the scene.
