FREEPORT, Long Island (WABC) -- A Freeport man has been charged after police said he attacked a neighbor with a fork.
According to police, around 9:45 p.m. Friday, Thomas W. Cummings, 47, knocked on the door of a neighbor at his apartment complex. They said when she opened the door, Cummings pushed his way in and attacked her with a metal fork he was carrying.
She had puncture wounds on her left arm and right hand. She was able to escape into the hallway.
According to the Nassau County Police Department, Cummings then took a steak knife from a drawer in the kitchen and chased the victim down the stairs where he slashed her in the back and arm.
Cummings fled back to his apartment where he later was arrested.
The victim was taken to the hospital.
Cummings is charged with two counts of first-degree burglary, one count of second-degree assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
He was scheduled for arraignment Saturday in Hempstead.
